The USAID-funded Government Accountability Initiative’s overall goal is to enable key Serbian stakeholder institutions to increase government accountability at the national and local levels. At the national level, Checchi advisors are working with the Anti-Corruption Agency and the State Audit Institution to strengthen the monitoring of public officials and government performance, assisting anti-corruption court units to manage corruption cases, and helping to establish a unified system for collecting statistics on corruption. At the local level, Checchi technical assistance is helping local governments to operate in a more transparent and responsive manner, as well as supporting the development and implementation of local anti-corruption plans.
