The Justice Sector Strengthening Activity was a follow-on contract to the task order implemented by Checchi in El Salvador from 2008 to 2012 and built upon important accomplishments in the areas of community policing, assistance for the victims of domestic and sexual violence, and court administration. Working with the National Civilian Police, Checchi expanded community policing activities to help reduce crime and violence. The company also supported the implementation of case tracking and case management systems in the courts, strengthened inter-institutional coordination to improve the quality of criminal investigations, and established victims’ assistance centers to provide medical, psychological and legal services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Finally, Checchi worked with government oversight institutions and civil society organizations to enhance transparency and accountability in the criminal justice system.
