PROJECT

Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka – Mid-term Evaluation of the South Asia Regional Initiative / Energy (SARI/Energy) Program

2003

SARI/Energy was designed to promote regional stability by encouraging sustainable energy development and cross-border cooperation and eventual trade in energy resources among the countries of South Asia. This mid-term evaluation of SARI/Energy focused on testing the validity of the program strategy, examining the cost-effectiveness and impact of capacity-building and regional cooperation activities, and providing recommendations for the next phase of program implementation. The evaluation team interviewed more than 200 key informants and stakeholders in four countries (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh). The team’s final report included guidance on Phase II funding levels, management structure, and program directions.
